Appearance, Function and Applications This dimmer is push on/off and rotary controlled, meaning to turn the dimmer on or off simply push the spindle in and it will click back out; then to turn the brightness up or down, rotate the spindle clockwise and anti-clockwise. ………………………………………….. Varilight’s V-Com Series comprises of programmable intelligent dimmers. All V-Com dimmers offer smooth LED dimming technology to deliver the best possible dimming performance for a given load. V-Com dimmers are designed to control LED lighting loads requiring Leading Edge (Triac). ………………………………………….. There is a choice of driving modes to optimise the dimming performance of any given LED lighting load. V-Com dimmers feature Varilight’s new DRIVE function to aid initial start-up for lamps that otherwise will not switch on at low brightness settings. This feature, alongside adjustable minimum and maximum brightness settings, enable V-Com dimmers to provide the full range of brightness that a given LED lamp is capable of delivering; Some LEDs are set to a default minimum brightness which may be too bright, the dimmer can be easily adjusted so the minimum brightness of the LED is to your own desired setting. ………………………………………….. The V-Com Series are equipped with some intelligent features: Soft-Start Technology, allows a longer life span of the bulbs or lamps used by increasing the brightness level softly, which also creates a welcoming effect; Self Re-setting Overload Protection, so is able to handle overload situations, for example, if the wattage of the bulbs/lamps are accidentally too high on a circuit. This is achieved by either, stepping down the dimmer’s output to the lamps (if the watts are marginally overloaded), or the dimmer cuts out before there is any damage, (if the watts are grossly overloaded), until the load is reduced; Intelligent Thermal Protection which again stops damage to the dimmer, if it becomes too hot. ………………………………………….. Works especially well with the manufacturers, Megaman , and Mark Lighting , and any of the LEDs that we sell. ………………………………………….. 2 Way Dimming The V-Com Series Push on/off Dimmers can be used in 2 way circuits (where one lighting circuit is controlled from two locations). In order to achieve 2 way switching, they must be paired with a standard ‘2 way switch’ in the other location 3 way switching can be achieved by adding an ‘intermediate switch’ in to the circuit. When using V-Com Series Push on/off Dimmers in a 2 or 3 way circuit the lights can only be dimmed from the location that the dimmer is situated in, if total dimming is preferred from many switched locations, in a 2, 3 or more way circuit then choose the Varilight Touch and Remote range of dimmers, in conjunction with Slave Dimmers. ………………………………………….. Limitations Varilight Dimmers can NOT be used for wire-wound or torroidal Transformers.
