Appearance, Function and Applications What paint can I use? – You can use any paint, which will give you a variety of finishes. How many coats will it typically take to finish them well? – Varilight recommend 3 coats for emulsion, which can be applied by brush or roller, and at least 1 coat for spray paint. Will these conform to British Standards? – All our products conform to the BSEN Standards. Can I remove the paint once painted – if so how? – You can’t remove the paint unless you’re confident in sanding it off with sandpaper or similar, but you can over-paint the plate if you decide to change your wall colour. Do I still get a warranty once painted? – Warranty is for the working parts of the accessories, but not on the finish that has been applied. What colour do they come unfinished? – They are a slightly creamy off white when they’re unfinished. ………………………………………….. This dimmer is push on/off and rotary controlled, meaning to turn the dimmer on or off simply push the dimmer knob in and it will click back out; then to turn the brightness up or down, rotate the knob clockwise and anti-clockwise. ………………………………………….. Varilight Special Series Dimming function is virtually the same as 0-10V. The difference is that VARILIGHT 1-10V dimmers are 1 or 2 way and can be controlled in a 2 way setup with a standard switch. They also have a push on/off action to turn off the mains (0V position) whereas 0-10V will just turn down to a ‘0’ position. ………………………………………….. These types of dimmers require an extra two cores of cable as the dimming and switching functions are separate. The switching side is wired as a conventional switch to the mains and the dimming side is connected via the extra two core cable to the positive and negative terminals on the dimmable ballast/LED driver. Limitations Do not use this dimmerswitch for any other purpose or connect this dimmer to the mains, as your guarantee will be invalid. ………………………………………….. Check the in-rush current for LED bulbs or drivers before connecting. Fit inrush current limiters where necessary. ………………………………………….. Cleaning This product can be easily cleaned with a soft dry micro-fibre cloth. Never apply masking tape or other similar tape to the product. Avoid the use of any cleaning chemicals and always use a Gasket on freshly plastered, painted or damp walls as the plates may tarnish. (Plaster can take up to 6 months to dry out). A Gasket can be made from the packaging the product comes in, or a plastic bag can be cut to stop the plate touching the plaster.
