One of the most common product requests we’ve had over the past decade has been a rotary controlled dimmer with the capability to dim from multiple positions. Until recently, the technology hasn’t been available to do this but with the new simple to use V-Pro Smart Rotary dimmers, Varilight has now made it possible. ………………………………………….. The new range of V-Pro Smart dimmers uses an encoder in place of a potentiometer, allowing for infinite rotation of all the lighting controls on the circuit. This means that it doesn’t matter where the control is on a different position, all that matters is what you’re inputting when you want to adjust the lighting, making Multi-Way dimming possible while maintaining the look and feel of a rotary dimmer. ………………………………………….. Appearance, Function and Applications This dimmer is Micro-push on/off and rotary controlled, meaning to turn the dimmer on or off simply push the dimmer knob in slightly, and it will click back out; then to turn the brightness up or down, rotate the knob clockwise and anti-clockwise. This dimmer is different to conventional dimmers, as has been designed so the spindle can keep on turning with no definite stop. ………………………………………….. V-Pro Smart micro-Push on/off dimmers are suitable for both 1 way and 2 way circuits, and can be used for multi-way circuits too, this is the Slave to create multi-way dimming. ………………………………………….. There are some extra functions of this dimmer that can be used alongside the regular push on/off and rotary dim controls. A sharp turn up will set the dimmers to maximum brightness, with a sharp turn down setting them to minimum brightness. Either of these can be performed from off. Turning the dimmer slowly in either direction from off will bring the dimmers on at minimum brightness, allowing you to ramp up from a very low level. ………………………………………….. 2 Way Dimming The V-Pro Smart Series Push on/off Dimmers can also be used in 2 way circuits (where one lighting circuit is controlled from two locations). In order to achieve 2 way dimming, they must be paired with a V-Pro Smart Series Slave dimmer in the other location. 3 way or more, dimming can be achieved by adding an extra V-Pro Smart Slave dimmers in to the circuit. When using V-Pro Smart Series Dimmers in 2, 3 or multi way circuits, the lights can be dimmed from any locations that the Master and Slave dimmers are situated in. …………………………………………..
